Express 3500 Commercial Cutaway provides an excellent foundation for upfitting with three available wheelbases: 139-inch, 159-inch and 177-inch. The van's strong, full-length, ladder-type frame is designed to work with the numerous upfits available from independent suppliers. Vortec V8 power is standard, along with a Hydra-Matic six-speed automatic transmission that includes auto grade braking and Tow/Haul mode. The available Duramax 6.6L Turbo-Diesel V8 engine is the most powerful diesel in its class. Choose from four axle ratios: 3.42, 3.54, 3.73 and 4.10. Standard equipment includes an Oil-Life Monitor, a fourwheel antilock brake system with Dynamic Rear Proportioning, power steering and air conditioning.
The biggest jobs need the heavy-duty strength of Express 4500 Commercial Cutaway, featuring a higher payload than any competitor - 9,156 lbs. - as well as a 14,200-lb. GVWR. The standard Vortec 6.0L V8 engine offers best-in-class horsepower, and the available Duramax 6.6L Turbo-Diesel V8 generates more horsepower and torque than its competitors. Both are paired with a six-speed automatic transmission with Tap-Up/Tap-Down driver shift control. Power Takeoff (PTO) capability allows Commercial Cutaway equipped with the GM segment-exclusive, available Allison 1000 Series six-speed automatic transmission to power auxiliary equipment such as a dump body or hydraulic motors for generators or tools.

The 4500 Cutaway delivers many medium duty benefits in a light, efficient package. Although it is not able to perform the entire range of tasks of all medium duty trucks, it may be able to meet many of your medium duty needs.
